COMPETITIVE CAMP PROGRAM
Camp FLA is a special camp in a special place. Over the years, Fort Lauderdale has been the CAMP OF CHOICE for thousands of swimmers from across the USA and all around the world. The camp emphasizes the basics, as well as the absolute latest in sports psychology, motivation, skills and drills, training techniques, dry land training, flexibility, nutrition and teamwork. At Camp FLA, campers learn to Have Fun while working hard. Hard work, great technique, and a great attitude make great athletes and great young people!
Each camper is challenged, inspired, and entertained from dawn to dusk, in addition to being SUPERVISED AND CARED FOR 24 HOURS A DAY.
Our camp program has something for everyone: from the beginning age group swimmer to the National qualifier. Competitive Campers are placed in one of five groups based on his or her age and swimming ability.

White
7-10
  • Intermediate ability level.
  • Emphasis is put on devloping perfect strokes while everyone has fun in and out of the water.
  • Campers must swim all 4 strokes and be able to swim a legal 100 IM
Blue
10-13
  • Intermediate ability level.
  • Emphasis is put on devloping perfect strokes and improving aerobic conditioning while having fun in and out of the water.
  • Campers must be used to reading the clock and ready to swim more challenging sets.
Advanced Age Group
11-14
  • Advanced Age Group campers should be used to practicing 5 or more days per week for 90 minutes or more each practice in a challenging environment.
  • Emphasis is on refining strokes and turns, as well as improving aerobic conditioning.

Senior
14-18
  • The Senior Track is perfect for the talented high school swimmer looking to get a head start on conditioning and technique for next year's season.
  • Emphasis is on refining strokes and turns, as well as improving aerobic and muscular conditioning; and strength and power in dryland training.
National Development
14-18
  • Campers must have a year-round focus with a strong training history and a high performance level in competition.
  • These swimmers will have the opportunity to train with the FLA National Team.
  • Campers will need a minimum of four current best times under the Speedo Champions Series qualifying standards to qualify.

Camp Hotel
Resident Campers stay at the Best Western Oceanside Inn on beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beach . They live in very comfortable and secure surroundings and eat in the hotel and area restaurants, as well as enjoying supervised camp activities on the beach.
Social Activities
We have a full time activities director in charge of special events and social activities. Camp FLA not only develops swimming skills and a positive mental attitude, but also the interpersonal skills associated with being part of a team. After the daily workouts, classroom sessions and the individual stroke work, swimmers will participate in fun filled activities. Typical social activities include:

Weekly Welcome Barbeque & Beach Games
RESIDENTIAL campers will kick off each camp week Sunday night with one of our greatest attractions, a barbecue on the beach and ice breaker games to get the camp started.
Weekly Awards Session
The final classroom session each week will be devoted to awarding our campers and recognizing their achievements of that week. Each and every camper is recognized for something each week. All departing campers receive a participation certificate. And three awards are given to the outstanding campers for that week:

Boys' Camper of the Week
Dryland Camper of the Week

SUMMER 2010 SWIM MEETS
Campers have the opportunity to compete in swim meets during the summer. Please include your USA Swimming number AND a copy of your 2009 USA Swimming Athlete membership card. All non-USA Swimming members will be registered with USA Swimming and charged $60.00. Entry and USA Registration fees will be charged to the Activity Fee account.

2010 SPECIAL DAY TRIPS
Camp FLA will take one special full-day or half-day trip each week with ALL its campers beginning in week 1. These special day trips provide some of the greatest lasting memories and friendships for our campers. Special day trips are additional costs and will be charged as activity fees.
